Finally broke the 20lbs.mark . Water temps have come up a couple of degrees. The morning was slow but the afternoon was on fire. Double kings and cohos The largest 20.8lbs. .Fish have finally moved closer to Wilson home port. Hot color has been froggy glow and green and orange hologram. Sunday did four quick fish fire tiger gold back and dipsey with spin doctors and flies (www.hammerheadchartersandtackle.com) 05/07/2008: Capt. Jim Piano from Hammerhead Charters, Weekend May 3 to May 5 @ Niagra Bar fishing the Red Can. First charter of the season, water temps are still very cold, but pulling out 7 to 8 good sized kings and cohos a day. The largest 18lbs so far. Hot color has been habenaro. Dipseys have been spin doctor flies. (www.hammerheadchartersandtackle.com) 05/04/2008: Capt Bruce Stenlein from Hooked Up Charters 5/3 & 5/4, fished west from russel to lighthouse and went 11 for 19. 2 kings, 1atlantic.1bow,and 7 browns. Black & gold whatever was my best. (goby colors???) Sunday i had a short day so i stayed around the genny, and only had 2 bites on kings. It seems this season just sets up, and then it goes to hell.(www.hookedupcharters.com) 05/03/2008: Capt. Ken Biemiller from Off The Hook Charters out on Saturday, worked the Genny River plum from 15 to 40 fow. Nice mixed bag of fish including kings, browns and a steelhead. Had stick baits in natural & red/brown going, wonder bread, watermelon & blk/silver spoons off riggers and slide diver lite bites.(www.othfishing.com) *April 2008* 04/28/2008: Capt. Bruce Stenglein of Hooked Up Charters, I could not imagine the fishing being a whole lot better then it was, especially sunday. The groups i had caught 6 for 7 on browns early am sat. I then went out to cooler water to find some silver fish, and we did! I made one troll, and never turned the boat on any of the bites, and still went 8 for 13. Sundays charter i went right to cold awater and smoked em all day with alittle slow period round noon. They went 18 for29.50% cohoes and 50% steelhead with one king about 17lbs. A better king got away at the back of the boat. All of the action was in front of the genny give or take a mile. The color red was the man.(www.hookedupcharters.com) 04/28/2008: Capt. Ken Biemiller from Off The Hook Charters out Saturday 26^th fished off the East side of the Genny without any action first thing. Moved over to the West side off Russell Station and started a brown bite with green/white spoons and natural stick baits off the boards back 125 to 150’. Had a half day trip so I stayed with the inside program. Back out Sunday 27^th after heavy rains Sat. evening. The inside water was gin clear, still gave the browns an opportunity without success. Moved out to the deeper water and slowly started building steam on a coho bite that turned out to be our day. Worked 150 to 200 fow with red stick baits and spoons off the boards and 28 sized red spoons and white spoons off the riggers.(www.othfishing.com) 04/20/2008: Capt. Bruce Stenglein of Hooked Up Charters, fished saturday 2, 5 hour trips. The bite the past two days was very tough all over the lake, but i thought it couldnt go on for three days in a row! Well as luck would have it, it did not. The first trip went 9 for 11 with two 13lb brownies and "boated" the first king of 08 which was 15lb.I fished west of the river to braddocks, most bites were on natural color baits. Sundays trip was a big boat ride do to several people not feeling well and having to run them back in, several times. We had 8 bites and landed one. Ken Biemiller from Off The Hook Charters, fished East between Ship Builders and the Webster Pier, went 11 for 17 on browns. Scorpion size Michigan Stingers off the riggers, Minnow, Chartreuse and black stick baits off the boards w/o weight. (www.othfishing.com) 04/07/08 - Capt. Bruce Stenglein of Hooked Up Charters just completed his third trip of the season fishing 4/5-4/6 and 4/7. First day I went East and I was 13 for 18. Second day I went West and I had the same number of bites and fish in the boat. That is running out of the Genny for those of you who don't know. The third day I went West again with a 5 hour trip and I was 9 for 11 with one 20 lb. Salmon that got away. Numbers of fish seem to be down, I believe because the Gobey's are in massive numbers along the shore line as the fish stomach contents have revealed. Most of the bites have been on natural colors.
